Congratulations on taking this first step in identifying yourself as a leader in CRW. By opening this site, you are ensuring that you’ll be an integral part of our democracy whether you're running, or just navigating the elections process as a voter. As a potential candidate, you are embarking on a complex and difficult leadership journey: one that we’re excited to take part in alongside you.
It is critical to note that throughout this process and especially if elected, all eyes are on you! Alephs and BBGs, particularly younger members, all over the region constantly look up to, confide in, and emulate the actions of Regional Board. As a prospective Regional Board member, you have the opportunity to truly build up the community through your actions; your role modeling can sculpt the culture and values of our region. Likewise, anything short of this is sizably more damaging. We ask you to take the time to deeply ponder whether this is right for you, knowing that you will always be in this role, always with hundreds of eyes on you, and always expected to embody the values of the Aleph Zadik Aleph and the B’nai B’rith Girls. And, as representatives of BBYO inside and out of events, it is our expectation that you carry this role modeling at all times throughout your service, and even beyond.
Service on Regional Board, in addition to really any form of genuine leadership, is simply the most selfless investment of time possible. Serving as a part of CRW’s 72nd Regional Board is not about the individual. More often than ever, you will be asked to put the needs of others, whether that be the region, other members of your team, or even staff, ahead of your own self interest. Hard work can be very fulfilling, but the extent of this fulfillment is purely the fruits of your labor, not any special privileges or attention.
Within this website, you’ll find overviews of every expectation and responsibility you’ll have as a regional board member, as well as detailed descriptions of what will be required of you in the journey to candidacy ahead (keep up with the Timeline Overview you’ll find linked below!). All voters will have access to vision statements and recorded interviews from each candidate when they become available, so that members can make an educated decision on election day.
Finally, the journey you are embarking on is a lot– and we recognize this. We intend to be as fair and supportive as possible throughout but also encourage you to take the time to harvest value from this process. Win or lose, these next couple months are designed to be a time of growth– growth of self identity, growth of style of leadership, and even growth in your relationship to CRW. As you’re devoting the time to meeting a difficult deadline, always remember to prioritize your own reflection. Devote time to the reflection stages, reach out with questions, and push yourself forward. We are excited to work with the best versions of each and every one of you, and cannot wait to grow together as we embark on this journey.
Best of luck, and please, always, always, always reach out for assistance!
(Fraternally) Submitted with Undying Love,
For the 72nd term of Central Region West #45!
We humbly remain,
Noga Rafalin and Negev Geri
Your 71st Regional N’siah and Regional Aleph Godol
