While we can't give you thorough information about the specifics of the questions involved, we'd love to give you a basic overview of the Meet the Candidates videos! First and foremost, the videos will be filmed on Sunday, March 26th directly following the Regional Board Meeting. All candidates are expected to stay late for the filming process so please be prepared. If this is a conflict in any way for you, it is your responsibility to reach out to Negev Geri or Noga Rafalin to make a plan moving forward.
The intent of this video is for the region to be introduced to you, both as a candidate and as an Aleph/BBG. More than anything else, be yourself, be thoughtful (hopefully those don't contradict), and be confident. ]
The video will primarily allow you to introduce yourself to the region before being asked a series of questions.
This is the first time that you will be hearing these questions. They will be primarily about who you are as a person and candidate, not about your vision/goals for your position.
The same questions will be asked to all candidates running for the same position on the 72nd board. For consistency purposes, we will also be unable to respond to candidates.
There is no time limit for answering the questions, however, we encourage you to exercise your best judgment in answering primarily the question and not ranting. Note that longer videos are unlikely to be viewed in their entirety.
You will not have the opportunity to retake your video.
Know yourself well! Take some time to reflect on your values, your favorite memories in BBYO, the people and lessons that have shaped you as a leader, and any fun quirks that make you unique.
Reflect on your choice to run! Why is it so important to give back? Why does this particular position resonate with you? If nothing else, remember that you love BBYO and that this organization is here to support you.
Complete the reflection questions! Even though you have a few extra days before the deadline, any conscious reflection prior to the filming will be in your best interest,
Wear clothing that you feel comfortable and confident in!
Be confident! Rather than thinking of this as an interview, think of it simply as a conversation. While we cannot fully engage, treating it this way will help to defuse the stress and normalize the situation for you.
Speak loudly and clearly. Not only will this give off the impression of confidence, but it will ensure that you are communicating as effectively as possible.
Let your personality shine! While a vision and ideas can wait for your vision statement/speech/platform, this is a great opportunity to show the region who you are and what you're about.
