If you're doing IB this is applicable to the beginning of Section B where you're generating quick, rough and varied design ideas. For AQA GCSE DT this would be the beginning of Section C.

I've done all these using a Wacom Intuos tablet with Autodesk Sketchbook, but you'll be able to follow the same principles for traditional pencil and paper techniques.
