Special Education Needs - SEN for short - refers to learners with a wide range of needs that require special support in the language classroom.
One of our aims as teachers is to make all of our students feel included. How might we achieve our aim? With the help of technology and digital tools.
VocabularySpellingCity's website and app provide K-12 cross-curricular word study with online vocabulary, writing, phonics, and spelling programs that give students immediate feedback and the option to record their progress on any device. In allowing students to read, hear, speak, write, break down, and play with words, this digital tool online programs are effective in vocabulary building and retention, which are so important to ongoing academic success.
An activity that could be carried out using this platform is: after learning about the days of the week and the weather, students will play interactive games which include not only visual but also hearing aids. Students will have to: listen, write and select the correct words.
Some of these digital platform online programs are a good option for students with reading and writing difficulties since many of the exercises have a read-aloud option.
