Job 42:5-6
God is More Than Words
5 My ears had heard of you
but now my eyes have seen you.
6 Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes.”
John 1:14
Jesus is Full of Grace and Truth
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
1 Peter 2:22
Jesus Committed No Sin
22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
Job spoke many words to his wife and friends as the Book of Job unfolds...Our ears hear the spoken word...Our eyes see the written word...The spoken word can be powerful...The written word can be mighty...Yet, there are Somethings just to Majestic to speak about or say the perfect words, or Somethings to Great explain and cover in the written word...Job finds this out...Job, who is very good with words and speaking, gets in the end a chance to see His LORD...Now Job sees God...Before he had only heard of God through words with his conversations with his friends, and maybe what he had read about Him...Now Job was face to face with God and he sees that God stretches the very vocabulary and spoken word that he and mankind uses...Job saw that words were impotent and weak to What he was seeing...
There are a finite number of words in vocabularies...Therefore, words have their limits...How can God who is Infinite, be bound by a limited and finite vocabulary of words?...How can one write completely about His Glory, and the reader get the Complete Picture of God?...If we believe our words are limited and our understanding of God is limited, then we can only explain parts of that Infinity Essence...We can only write about slices and glimpses of Him...We really cannot write about The Complete God...Only His Autobiography, written by Him, could do that...He could include in those writings how He made creation out of His Spoken Word...He could also write about His many miracles...Would we understand those things?...
C. S. Lewis said this about words about our LORD in his book Till We Have Faces, "I know now, LORD, why You utter no answer...You are Yourself the answer...Before Your Face questions die away...What other answer would suffice?...Only words, words; to be led out to battle against other words."...Maybe we cannot capture God's essence, His LOVE, and His Goodness with words...The finite words we use in trying to explain Him, are not enough to speak about our Father...God is more than words...And Job understood this once he was in God's Presence...
God became Man and dwelt among us...In the way Jesus spoke, but also how He lived, we can see His Glory...He committed no sin...We would expect if God sent His Son to us that He would speak the best of words...What He would speak would be the most fascinating and interesting things mankind would ever hear...Never before or since Jesus left the earth have we heard such unique words, teachings, and parables...We would expect this from God and this is what we did get from Jesus...What He spoke was powerful and mighty...Who could speak like Jesus, other than the Son of God?...Those who met Jesus saw His great uniqueness...The Son of God is Glory beyond words...
And practicing and doing what Jesus teaches is very difficult...His mighty words are more than just words said...His spoken words are to be read regularly in our lives...His words are to be learned and treasured...But most of all His words are to be lived out in our lives...
