Revelation 1:8
God is the Alpha and the Omega
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Romans 8:22-27
God Searches our Hearts
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
1 Peter 1:3-12
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
Sometimes we do not know what to pray...Sometimes when we are in troubled and confused we do not even know what to do...God knows...He is the Alpha and the Omega...He knows all things...He alone is the holder of all wisdom and knowledge...The One who is the Holder of all wisdom and knowledge has meaning, purpose, and knows all about life and its good things and all its trials -and all the sufferings each one of us go through...And during our trials and our sufferings, we often need help and it is there from the Holy Spirit...The Holy Spirit will intercede for us because the Spirit knows all things and knows what we need...
St. Peter writes in his first epistle that the trials we face have come so that our faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed...These trials and troubles may come in our life to build our faith, and to strengthen us...Faith can grow then, and according to St. Peter during the hard times in our lives...When we can find no answer or answers to the questions we seek -Jesus is there...God revealed His Son to us so that we may have salvation...As we grow in faith and mature in wisdom -we see that the LORD is in more things than we did when we had less faith and little faith...And when we had a less mature faith...The Holy Spirit that was sent from heaven is there inching us along letting us see that the Living God is there and is giving us hope...This is one of the reasons that God sent His Son to us -to add to our hopes...
God knows us absolutely...When we are troubled and can't quite express ourselves or know what to say or even think -He is there...He is there with His Holy Spirit that is in us...When we cannot express ourselves, in words -the Holy Spirit is there for us...Our Maker is there knowing exactly what we need and what we mean...Not only does He know what we mean, when sometimes we even do not -He is the One who gives life meaning...He gives life its purpose...He is our Hope, our Living Hope...
