1 Peter 2:20-25
Jesus Suffered for Us
20But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 25 For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Romans 8:28-30
God's Goodness and Greatness
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Life will bring us troubles and suffering...Man will suffer sometime in his life...If we suffer for doing good and we endure it, then it is commendable before God...Christ suffered for us, and leaves an example, that we should follow in His steps...Jesus is our example in life, and we must learn to completely trust Him...
Jesus committed no sin...There was no deceit in His mouth...He was guilty of no crime...He was guilty of no trespass...He had done no wrong...But He was executed and suffered on a cross...Blasphemy is probably the crime that His opposition would say He committed...
There are two points of differing views that happened, when Jesus was taken to the cross and to be executed...It is the point of view from man...It is the point of view, that every man and woman first saw, and most believed what they seen had happened...Jesus died for an earthly crime, of blasphemy, that He committed...I think we should look at these two views separately...The first point of view is that Jesus had an opposition...This opposition included the Sanhedrin, the High Priest, the Pharisees, and the teachers of the law...They opposed His teachings and what He was doing in their nation of Israel...Jesus' opposition, in the end, looked for ways to kill Him...And in the end they did execute Him, and kill Him on the cross...This is how the things happened and what first was seen...Jesus died because His opposition thought He committed the crime of blasphemy and He died for committing that crime..
The other point of view is from God's perspective and His point of view...This point of view would not be fully realized until three days later...From God's point of view, man is a sinner...Man needs help and He would send His Son to help us with our sins...So Jesus needed to be taken to a cross, to suffer, and to die...He would die for our sins...This is why He died from God's point of view, because we are sinners...So not only would Jesus help us, He would die for us...God, who knows everything, knew that His Son had opposition and what was and is going to happen...All along, and in God's time, and in His plan, man is a sinner, and Jesus must die to save us from our sins...Jesus' death for us, had to happen...This was one of the purposes God had and has for man...
These points of view are contrasting to man...At the time of Jesus arrest, there were two different view and events happening...They are not contrasting to God, because He knew all along what was happening from man's point of view, but also His point of view, as well as Him knowing all points of view...Man did not understand until the third day of the good that was to come out for Jesus' suffering and His death...After the third day on Jesus death, He resurrected...Then we learn about the goodness of God (God, alone is good, but we as man take time to realize the goodness of all things, who love Him)...St. Paul teaches that man does know all things that God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose...God foresees all things and we don't...God knows all things and we do not...We must learn to trust in Him, as Jesus did...
