Quentin Thomas-Oliver is a life-long musician originally from the United States. He began his career playing electric bass in a band that toured the Midwest while he was still in high school. Quentin then moved to Austin, Texas and toured with several bands playing both bass and guitar. Wanting to expand his musical world, he learned to play the viola, and went on to graduate from the University of Iowa where he majored in Strings Performance and also studied conducting and composition. After many years of performing professionally in orchestras, Quentin decided to spend more time pursuing his own music and art project, Ponytrap, which is a band, a stage production, and an educational installation all rolled into one, featuring a 4.5 meter tall robotic drum. Two years ago, Quentin moved to Maastricht, with his wife, Hilary, and their dog and cat. He has been teaching music and traveling Europe with Ponytrap since then.
