Self-Defence Course Description for Secondary School
Practical Safety & Tactical Awareness: Self-Defense for Teenagers
Club day: Tuesday
Time: 16:30-17:30
Price: €255,-
This course provides secondary students with a scientifically-grounded and practical approach to personal safety. Going beyond basic movements, we integrate a sport science perspective to teach students how to assess and respond to real-world scenarios effectively. The program's core is rooted in risk assessment, de-escalation, and tactical escape.
Drawing on concepts from physical education and strength coaching, the curriculum includes:
· Risk Assessment & Situational Awareness: Students will learn to identify potential threats and avoid dangerous situations before they escalate. We discuss the psychology behind conflict and the importance of being aware of one's surroundings.
· Physiological & Biomechanical Principles: We will explore how to use leverage and body mechanics for maximum effectiveness with minimal force. This includes understanding the biomechanics of creating distance, breaking grips, and maintaining balance.
· De-escalation & Communication: The first line of defense is always verbal. Students will learn proven techniques for de-escalating a tense situation and using assertive, non-confrontational language to their advantage.
· Practical Defensive Techniques: We will practice practical, low-risk, high-reward physical techniques for disengagement and escape. The focus is on evasion, not confrontation, using movements that can be performed by all fitness levels.
This program is designed to build mental and physical resilience, helping students feel more confident and prepared to handle challenging situations. The goal is to equip them with skills that promote safety and well-being throughout their lives.
