Inventory No 478: A chasuble cut in the French style of high quality Gold watered silk with a meandering woven flower and vine design. Edged in gold braid and applied with a pillar and cross in the same braid. Lined in purple. Possibly constructed from Court dress. - gold and silver brocade indicates a woman of status

Condition notes: The fabric has badly discoloured and now looks like a dirty yellow/green. Some of the braid is missing and the lining is badly stained and discoloured and is developing splits and holes. The fabric has split across the front, where it has obviously been folded in storage, and has been re-sewn with green thread.
