CYTOLOGY AND HEMATOLOGY
Hematological investigation is a laboratory routine, but a proper hematological diagnosis requires advanced knowledge and skills. The present program is dedicated to prepare the future veterinary clinicians in properly use of the hematological laboratory data for diagnosis.
Lectures include the classis parts found in all hematology lectures, the pathology of red blood cells, white blood cells, hematological malignances, pathology and exploration of hemostasis and the basics of the transfusion therapy. The lecture will insist on the differential diagnosis criteria among various hematological diseases.
Laboratories include introduction in the automatic methods used in modern hematological diagnosis, recognition on the most important hematological changes on the blood smear in various species of domestic animals, basic laboratory skills (blood smear preparation and staining, special stainings, cross-mach test, etc.). Additionally, relevant, real clinical cases will be presented and discussed individually to enable the future clinician to establish a laboratory diagnostic.
