When a teacher is knowledgeable in the subject at hand, he/she can create connections with other subjects and create activities that could help students understand the topic they have to learn. As evidence of my knowledge about the subject I teach, I present a lesson plan I made to introduce the topic of nouns. After giving the students a pretest about nouns, I asked them what they knew or remember about the topic. Then I showed them a short power point presentation to refresh their memory about the topic. Then, I gave each student a flashcard with a noun, they had to classify the noun as person, place, thing or idea. To finish of, after discussing how they classified the nouns, I gave them a handout to practice identifying nouns.

Power Point Presentations
As evidence of this competency, I would also like to present two power point presentations I created for my 6th graders. The first presentation I created was done to explain the difference between narrative and descriptive paragraphs. After discussing the difference between narrative and descriptive writing, students had to create their own narrative paragraph talking about what they did during Hurricane María. The second presentation I created, was done to discuss the rules for pluralization of nouns.

Presento como evidencia un plan de clases. La misma fue creada para una clase de Inglés de 6to grado y forma parte del curso de EING 4010. En este plan de clases integré un juego para repasar las palabras de vocabulario que fueron aprendidas en clase. El juego funcionó como repaso para un exámen que los estudiantes tendrían la próxima semana. Los estudiantes estaban estudiando mitología griega. Para preparar esta clase leí lo mismo que ya ellos habían estudiado e incorporé de forma dinámica lo que habían aprendido. Aquí demuestro mi dominio de la materia ya que pude crear una clase que a la vez que aprendían se podían divertir.

Según la NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principiáis las tres principales características de los mejores maestros son las siguientes:
1. Tener buen sentido del humor.
2. Hacer la clase interesante.
3. Tener dominio del tema.
Como maestro(a) es de suma importancia tener conocimiento y dominio del tema. El maestro sirve como facilitador o gua para el estudiante y para que el maestro pueda hacer su trabajo (como facilitador) necesita dominar su tema de enseñanza. Si el maestro no domina su tema de enseñanza no es posible que pueda enseñarlo a otros, y si lo hace el estudiante no va a tener un buen aprendizaje. Como había mencionado en "Conóceme", mi concentración es Inglés. Si yo como educadora no conozco este lenguaje es imposible llevar a cabo una enseñanza.
Para evidenciar mi dominio sobre mi concentración utilice un trabajo escrito en inglés. Este ensayo es uno autobiográfico en el cual explico el transcurso de mi vida hasta llegar a la facultad de Educación. El mismo es uno bueno para evidenciar la competencia porque demuestra que tengo el dominio del idioma.
