Mock Trial

What is Mock Trial?

High school students throughout Tulare County learn about the content and processes of the law during Mock Trial competition. Through role-playing, studying a case, and preparing strategies and arguments for trial, students increase skills in public speaking, analytic ability, and team cooperation. Local attorneys serve as judges and advisors. Winners advance to the State Mock Trial Finals.

UPHS' Mock Trial Legacy

Mock trial is an academic-based competition which allows students interested in law, or even drama, to study a case until January to participate in a mock court case. In addition to working with real-life judges and attorneys during the competition, UPHS is lucky to have real-life attorney coaches. In 2017, our team was able to go all the way to semi-finals! However, in 2018, our team was disqualified due to misunderstandings and in 2019, lost our 4th competition which prevented us from going to semi-finals. In 2021, the UPHS Mock Trial team beat Redwood High School to win the Tulare County Mock Trial competition. We are am confident in saying that 2022 will be another year of the PANDA!
