On August 22, 2024, I visited the MovEd office in Makati to have a short orientation with MovEd staff to brief me as to what to expect on my first visit as well as some information about MovEd, their learning labs, their early childhood care and development programs, and their learners -- in particular those enrolled in the La Huerta, ParaƱaque learning lab.
The orientation went for about an hour and in the photo below are (L-R) Ms. Janna who is their Programs Officer the one who responds to my emails, me in the middle, and Ms. Nadine who is their Programs Education Officer. My gatekeeper, Ms. Yanna, holds the same position as Ms. Nadine but she is not in the photo as she was on leave during that day.
Because I only learned about MovEd through their website, I only knew superficial information about the program. After this orientation, I gained better understanding about the organization and what they do on the ground. I learned about how their daycare (learning labs) are being run, their class schedules, subjects, learners, and a lot more. They also gladly answered my questions and addressed the things that I was unsure of.
The orientation indeed prepared me for my initial visit and set my expectations. During this meeting, they also gifted me a MovEd shirt which I would wear every time I visit the learning lab.
The orientation has given me some knowledge about the learners and the MovEd program prior to my first visit. They also showed me the results of the one-on-one pre-assessment conducted by the teachers on the first few weeks of the school year (MovEd classes began on August 12, 2024). This gave me the idea as to which learning areas need to be focused on. With that, I believe I have already started my analysis of learners even if I have not met them yet through their pre-assessment results.
