Much of Norway's culture dates back to the Vikings, a group of Scandinavian sea pirates, merchants, and pioneers who settled in northern Europe in the 8th century.
Throughout its history, the people of this country have always identified with rural culture, which can be seen in their traditional costumes and popular music that is still celebrated today. The most modern expressions of Norwegian culture include Jante Law and Constitution Day
Jante Law is an essential part of modern Norwegian culture and emphasizes humility, equality, respect and simplicity. In the Jante Law, wealth is not flaunted, people do not criticize others, and egalitarianism is key.
