Math

Welcome to our page. This page was created by a group of middle and secondary math teachers to provide resources to enhance student engagement and accountability in the math classroom.

Jennifer Martucci: I am currently an 8th grade mathematics teacher in a rural middle school in the Iredell County School System. As a 21 year veteran teacher, I have taught in schools with various socio-economic status and various ability levels. I have taught through the many changes in both learning and curriculum and realize the greater need for the integration of technology.

Brandy Thompson: I am currently an 8th grade math, 8th grade honors, and Math 1 teacher in the Iredell Statesville School district, located in North Carolina. The students in this district participate in a 1:1 technology initiative at the middle and secondary levels. I have had the opportunity to work with students from kindergarten to ninth grade which has given me the experience to use various strategies, programs, and technologies with all student levels.

Teresa Sutton: I have been teaching 6th and 7th grade math in the Iredell Statesville School district for the past 25 years. I have seen the difference technology can make in both student engagement and accountability in math class. I hope you will find our resources beneficial in transitioning your class to better suit the needs of the 21st century learner.

Towanda Jackson: I have taught middle school math, mostly 6th grade, in Iredell County for almost 20 years. Over the years, the use of technology has become necessary to meet the diverse needs of our students and better prepare them for the future. Many schools currently support a 1:1 initiative allowing more opportunities for teachers to incorporate various programs and resources, such as those included here, into their classrooms to support student learning.

Amanda Byrd: I am currently a middle school Math Coach with Johnston County Schools. Having taught both high school and middle school mathematics for 22 years, I have seen the increased use of technology in the classroom and ways in which online resources can enhance and engage student learning.

Kayla Everette: I am currently teaching 6th grade mathematics in the Iredell-Statesville School district. This year marks my eighth year teaching and within those short years I have witnessed such a drastic change in the use and need for technology. My school is a supporter of the 1:1 technology initiative and has allowed for greater engagement and more unique oppotunities within my math classroom.

Ryne Cooper: I am currently teaching PreCalculus and AP Calculus at West Iredell High School in the Iredell-Statesville School district. This year is my 6th year teaching. My first year of teaching our school introduced a 1:1 technology initiative allowing me to use technology to enhance my lessons and my students overall understanding of the subject.
