Non-Majors Science Students as Content Creators
Description
This assignment is part of a semester course geared towards non-science majors. The course, CORE 101, is unique in that the topics are based on faculty choice so typically align with their focus area (ex. biology). The assignment is a semester-long project where they build on to an existing website developed by previous students. The topics include AI, Nutrition, Evolution, DNA, GMOs and more. Students are asked to build on new sections of the topic’s site and/or make changes to the existing site using a tool like hy.pothesis. Students learn about privacy, data, creative commons, intellectual property throughout the assignment process. The assignment ends with a “poster” presentation to the class.
