PRINT & NON-PRINT COLLECTIONS

The UNC Library maintains an open stack system. Books are arranged on the shelves according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) System. Periodicals are arranged alphabetically by title.

FILIPINIANA

The Filipiniana Collection is located at the 1/F Main Library Building (Right Wing). The collection is consisting of local print books supporting most of the basic courses and some professional courses from the different programs offered by the University.

GENERAL REFERENCE

General Reference Collection is located at the 1/F Main Library Building (Left Wing.) These books are meant to provide quick and accessible information on any topic. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, yearbooks, almanacs, biographical and geographical sources, directories, handbooks, manuals, and other materials covering general and specific fields are housed in this section.

CIRCULATION

The Circulation Collection is composed of foreign print books supporting both the basic and professional courses from the different program offerings of the University. The collection is located at 2/F Main Library Building.

SERIALS/PERIODICALS

The UNC Library subscribes to a wide-range of journals and publications appropriate for the curricular offering of the university. Back issues of journals and newspaper with research value are preserved by having the items bound and indexed. This site provides a list of the currently available journals and publications of the library. THESES & DISSERTATIONS

Master theses and dissertations submitted by the Graduate School Students upon graduation. are being housed and managed by the Graduate Studies Library. Undergraduate theses are housed in the General Reference Section. These collections are for library use only.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

Local historical materials named as Bikolnon or Bikoliana are part of the Special collection. This includes periodical clippings, serials and monographs, theses and dissertations. More titles of the contemporary Bicolano writers are part of this collection and this is a growing collection. At present the collection cover history and culture, biography and literature about Bicol. Local historical materials relating to the university are housed in the university museum. Special Collections are maintained at the 2/F Main Library Building near the Director of Libraries Office.

AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIALS

The university collects and maintains audio-visual materials that will support the curricular offering of the institution it serves. Audio-visual materials are housed in the Audio-Visual Room (AVR). This includes films, videos, maps, globes, sound recordings for various subjects.

VERTICAL FILES / NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS

These are cut-out articles taken from a local and national newspaper subscribed by the library. The Librarians select relevant articles related to the programs/courses offered by the University and other current issues in our country. These clippings have been arranged by major topics of interest.
