The University of Nueva Caceres Library, guided by the mission of the institution it serves, affirms and commits itself to:

  1. Support the university in imparting and promoting to its clientele knowledge and understanding by providing access to the sources of information necessary for its program, research and institution.

  2. To improve love for reading and encourage interest in research.

  3. To preserve local history and sources of information of research value gathered through the University’s long history and to continue its information service into the next generation.


Vision

The University Library and Its Objectives

The Library is an essential institutional facility serving as repository of documented knowledge and wisdom for intellectual and cultural advancement in an educational institution. In line with the goal of the institution, the University of Nueva Caceres library endeavors to meet the needs of all its clienteles by providing and adequate, well selected and systematically organized collection of literature and other instructional materials which are supportive of curricula and programs of the university.

The University Of Nueva Caceres library aims to promote the mission of the university: “Dedicated to the Pursuit of Truth, Wisdom, and Knowledge, for the Service of God, Country and Humanity.” For this reason it helps foster high level literacy and scholarly conduct among the students and personnel of the university by providing a wide range selection of books and other literary materials on diverse subjects and interests that mirror and help sustain our pluralistic and democratic society.

With the school Motto – “Non Scholae Sed Vitae” (“Not of School but of Life”) the University of Nueva Caceres library aims to stimulate and encourage students to develop life-long habit of good reading and learning for them to become well-informed and intelligent individuals, and to become creative and productive citizens of our society. The University of Nueva Caceres Library, therefore, commits its personnel’s skills and competence to the creation of conditions most conducive to human development in a changing society.

Library Objectives

The Objective of the university library is to provide books, periodicals, and other instructional materials to support the academic of the University. Carrying out this objective entails certain functions as follows:

  1. Acquisition of Materials. Proper selection and acquisition of varied types of materials (books, periodicals, pamphlets, maps and other materials) needed to support the curriculum.

  2. Making Materials Available. The role of the library is to collect and organize library materials, provide a system for its access and retrieval like card catalogs, index to periodicals, bibliographic listing, labels, etc. for its maximum utilization.

  3. Develop among students the skill and resourcefulness in their use of books and other reading materials and encourage the habits of inquisitiveness and searching for information. Students, through the library services, must be able to develop their skill in the use of the card catalog, dictionary, encyclopedia and periodicals indexes. They must learn how to use the printed part of the book to advantage its index, glossary and table of contents.

  4. Guiding students and other library users their choice of books and other material of learning desired both for personal and curricular purpose.

  5. Administering the policies and regulations of the library with sufficient flexibility to meet special need or requests.

  6. Establish and enforce rules and regulations to ensure the proper use and exercise library privileges.

  7. Announce to the Departments Heads, Deans, Faculty Members and students the arrival of newly acquired books and other library materials by providing/sending list and posting them on the Current Awareness Bulletin Board.

  8. Establishes and institute measures designed to preserve and minimize losses, deterioration or destruction of library materials.

  9. Determines and recommends for approval proposals on adoptions or change in library policies of the university.

  10. Provides an environment within which learning can flourish and library staffs are able to perform their work at an optimum level.

  11. Determines systematic procedures for the processing of the books such as classifying cataloging, shelving and circulating them.

  12. Supervises assistants to ensure proper execution of their duties and interprets approved policies and procedures for proper implementations.

  13. Receives proposals for the purchase of additional books, subscription to journals and magazines and acquisitions of necessary furniture, fixtures and equipment and present them for necessary approval.

  14. Identifies, provide and promote library services most needed by clientele and to deliver them by the most appropriate means.

  15. Evaluates library operations and services to ensure that aims, objectives and needs of clientele are being met.


Operational Objectives.

  1. To acquire books and others materials of learning in line with the demands of the curriculum and the needs of the faculty and students and to organize these materials for effective use.

  2. To make library service clearly and sensibly coordinated.

  3. To effectively disseminate the content of the library through the use of the card catalog, index to periodicals and subject bibliographic listings.

  4. To endeavor to meet the legitimate demand of all its clientele.
