Solidarity Landscape from Idea to Implementation | July 12-19
The Goal
To advance the vision for an extended agro-ecological district called the Tarantasio Garden.
The research team worked closely with the Villaggio Solidale residents and community partners to understand their landscape knowledge and experiences. They engaged the community in participatory activities, and through extensive fieldwork, the student team refined the design of the Tarantasio Trail and determined the locations of several trail nodes to invite further landscape exploration.
Participatory Activities
The purpose of the activity was to test the children’s interest and comfort engaging with the landscape, to test their eco-literacy, and to become familiar with the flora and fauna to be found in the woods of the fontanili.
The children created hanging plant mobiles and solar prints with plants. These activities taught the team that the children were all very interested in the nature that can be found just outside their doorsteps. They already had a lot of knowledge about nature and were excited to share what they knew with the rest of the group.
The collage activity goal was to create your dream garden using pictures cut out from landscape magazines. These collages illustrate the landscapes and community the SFA participants hope to be part of. They desire landscapes they can participate in and care for.
