7. Fake Image

Using GIMP (or Photoshop or some other application) to create a composite image. This could be an artistic expression, political statement, advertisement, customized family photo, a hybrid animal, put your own face in a common meme, take a photoshop request seriously (like James Fridman), or something else. You do not need to do the same type of thing as was done in class, but can be creative about the pieces of images that you want to combine.

If you choose GIMP and want to use it on your own computer, you can install it from this page. The process to extract an image using GIMP can be seen on this tutorial page.

There components to completing this assignment are as follows:

  1. (5 points) Create a Google doc that has the original two or more images as well as the composite image, for a total of at least three images. Be sure your google doc permissions are set to be readable by anyone at UIC.
  2. (5 points) Images that have been cut have clean edges and integrate reasonably together.
  3. (5 points) In your Google doc you also include a screenshot and link to a manipulated image that someone else has created, that you think is interesting and well-done, that you found in research online.
  4. (5 points) Post your original and new composite image(s) on your online portfolio site, for a total of at least three images.
  5. To make sure the permissions are right, be sure you can access these images in incognito mode in your browser.

Turn in your Google doc by posting the link to it in the essays google form, calling the essay topic Photoshop.

Up to 10 points of extra credit may be given if you do an outstanding job with subject matter, artistic composition, and/or technical details.
