It just takes one person to believe in you

Adhere to that

Learn to accept what you want & reject to unnecessarily things or thoughts

Adhere to that

Be compassionate with yourself

Adhere to that

Challenge the notion

Adhere to that

Reconsider coming in with a bulldozer

Adhere to that

You are a shiny pearl with a magical tool belt

Adhere to that

You can only take on so much at once

Adhere to that

Listen to the world around around you

Observe every minute

Find your way to the understanding

Is there meaning behind this number

Can you truly help those around you

Or must we understand ourselves first to be coherent to others and then provide our

assistance

Be real and truthful while committing acts of bravery Listen to your heart but nurture it’s knowledge Life shouldn’t be this hard

Coherent definition: (adj) logically consistent

As I began writing the first poem, the first page, I wanted to encapsulate what it meant to struggle and be real about the challenges we face. My favorite line is how we are slaves in society and democracy. Although I am not a political science major, I am interested in social justice and change created by acts of awareness. The middle poems were what I felt during moments of solitude, neglect, hurt, transformation, healing, and peace. I thought the best way to convey my message to the Transfer community was by a set of poems, hopefully, one can relate to (preferably by opening up the poem book with your eyes closed and scanning the pages with your hands to experience your - possible - intuition of what calls to you).

I hope that the reader sees me and calls into question the words on the page. I hope it is thought-evoking and subjective to the reader. Helplessness is something I have experienced in many situations mainly as a person with a physical disability and various other intersectionalities, but I know only I can put limits on myself and it is up to me to break my own barriers and be brave enough to do so. Looking placid in the midst of chaos.
