Review the General Catalog.
Meet the qualification requirements.
Students should review the major options, select the major they wish to pursue, and understand the graduation requirements.
SOCY 3A: The Evaluation of Evidence, should be taken if the equivalent research methods course was not taken from a previous institution.
Or SOCY 105A: Classical Social Theory, or a Sociology Upper-Division Elective, should be taken if the equivalent to SOCY 3A has already been taken from a previous institution.
The suggested course load is two major classes per quarter, or less; if students do not have additional general education requirements to satisfy, they can utilize the third course each quarter to pursue other interests.
Students who are pursuing the Sociology BA with Digital Justice Studies (DJS) Intensive Concentration must take SOCY 30A, Intro to DJS, in their first fall quarter as it is the start of a year-long course series.
Students also have the option of combining Sociology with Latin American and Latino Studies which is offered through the LALS Department.
Frosh or Sophomore transfer students may need assistance enrolling into sociology courses restricted to juniors and seniors. Contact the advisor for assistance.
If unable to enroll in the recommended SOCY courses…
Enroll into a back-up course.
Students should add themselves to course wait lists.
Students are allowed to substitute two upper-division electives out of the five required.
Finally, attend the course on the first day.
