Getting Started in the Major

Jewish Studies B.A. for Frosh

Frosh who intend to pursue this major should do the following things prior to the beginning of fall term...

Review the Jewish Studies website.
Review the General Catalog, especially the sample academic plans and major qualification policy.
Add a customizable Jewish Studies Major Planning Worksheet and sample quarter-by-quarter course plans to your UCSC Google Drive.
Students with prior knowledge of Hebrew or Yiddish are advised to complete a language placement exam to determine if they have satisfied any of the elementary language course requirements.

...and should take these courses their first term:

HEBR 1: First-Year Hebrew (only offered in the fall) and LIT 61J, Intro to Jewish Literature and Culture
