Our goal is to help you gain relevant skills to support you in your role as a 4-H volunteer. In addition to the courses offered here, please check with your county 4-H office about training and orientation sessions they may be offering in-person.
Adults who work with youth in 4-H can participate in a skills-based training to get certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid. The training teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to a youth (ages 12-18) who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
Youth Mental Health First Aid certification is offered to currently enrolled California 4-H volunteers, both in-person and online via Zoom. See the Mental Health First Aid page to learn more about the certifications and scheduled sessions available through California 4-H.
For more information, please contact Jenna Colburn at jcolburn@ucanr.edu or Ally Lemmer at alemmer@ucanr.edu.
