Learning Center
We use the Extension Foundation system to deliver interactive courses, on-demand. This system is now called Extension Foundation Campus (Campus). You can take the courses on a computer or using a mobile app. The mobile app allows you to take the courses offline!
In addition to our Core (required) courses for volunteers, we offer eLearning courses at no cost for California 4-H members, volunteers and staff.
Each course offered by California 4-H has a unique enrollment key for each California county. Use your county's key to enroll in the course. Please note that all courses require an individual login and an enrollment key.
New Volunteer Course (2023-2024)

The California 4-H New Volunteer Course is for adult volunteers starting their first year or returning after a break in service of a year or longer. The course includes the following modules:
Reporting child abuse and neglect - essential guidelines and procedures.
Abuse risk management - recognize and mitigate potential risks.
4-H Orientation - a comprehensive introduction to the program
2-Deep Policy Short - emphasizes the importance of maintaining appropriate supervision.
Foundations of Positive Youth Development - key principles to foster the growth and well-being of youth in the 4-H community.

The California 4-H Returning Volunteer Course provides essential updates on policies and best practices to keep returning volunteers current. This course includes the following modules:
Level 2 Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect for UC Volunteers (also known as Abuse Prevention for UC Volunteers) - updated protocols for identifying and reporting abuse.
Abuse Risk Management - reinforces strategies for recognizing and mitigating risks.
4-H Orientation - a refresher on the program's core values and procedures
2-Deep Policy Short - emphasizes maintaining appropriate supervision practices.

Chaperone Essentials (Overnight Events)
Length: 20 minutes
Adults volunteering as chaperones for state 4-H sponsored overnight events, including state and national conferences, must complete this course once. It is also recommended for chaperones of all 4-H sponsored overnight events.
Civic Engagement Officer Course
Length: 20 minutes
As a 4-H Civic Engagement Officer, you will be able to increase the positive impact of 4-H in your community.
Through this course you will learn about:
The role and responsibilities of a 4-H Civic Engagement Officer
How to set-up service-learning committees
Ways to improve community engagement
How to plan and report on service-learning projects
Resources to help you educate your club about community service and service-learning so they can lead meaningful projects.
Cooking Academy
Length: 60 minutes per lesson.
The UC Virtual Cooking Academy has extra activities and videos that add to the University of California Cooking Academy curriculum. It includes videos for each lesson to support hands-on involvement with food and cooking. The Cooking Academy is made for kids in upper elementary school. It encourages young chefs to cook and eat healthy foods at home.
County Record Book Evaluation Orientation
Length: 30 minutes
This course is for adult volunteers and for 4-H Senior Members who evaluate Record Books for county competitions.
This course provides an overview of the following:
Evaluation rubric
Scoring techniques
How to give constructive feedback.
After you complete the course, you will receive an electronic badge and certificate to acknowledge your dedication to helping youth develop their skills in record-keeping.
Foundations of Positive Youth Development
Length: 20 minutes

The Foundations of Positive Youth Development course focuses on how to support young people to thrive and succeed.

Healthy Living Officer Course
Length: 18 minutes
This course outlines the essential activities of a 4-H Healthy Living Officer.
"Super Evaluators" at State Presentation Contest
Adults and youth work together on Treasurers duties.
Presentation Evaluator Certification
Length: 40 minutes
The Presentation Evaluator Certification course is for adult volunteers and Senior 4-H members who are 16 and older. The goal of the Evaluator Certification is to ensure that presentations are judged fairly and consistently.
This course covers the following topics:
In-depth overview of the presentation program.
Best practices for evaluating presentations.
How to give constructive feedback.
This course will certify you to evaluate presentations at the county, regional and state levels.
Treasurer Training
Length: 30 minutes
The Treasurer Training is all about what the California 4-H Club Treasurer needs to do. In this course, you’ll learn important skills like:
Setting up bank accounts
Making budgets
Managing funds
Following fundraising rules
Writing checks
Checking bank statements.
You can finish this training in different ways. This thorough training will help treasurers and their supporting adults to handle 4-H club money well.
