Students can complete this degree as either a full or part-time student. Full-time students are required to register in and successfully complete 9 credits per fall and winter terms. Part-time students must register in and successfully complete a minimum of 3 credits of coursework for at least one term in each September to August period to keep their program active. Students are not required to meet the Faculty’s residency requirement and have 6 years to complete the degree. The time to completion varies owing to part-time status of many students.
Because our professors collaborate in research across many faculties, you are not restricted to only taking courses in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. You may also take courses in other faculties, such as Rehabilitation Medicine, Arts and Science.
30 credits of coursework including:
KSR 580 - Scientific Inquiry and Quantitative Research OR KSR 581 - Scientific Inquiry and Qualitative Research (3 credits each)
KSR 900 - Capping Project (6 credits)
Graduate Ethics and Integrity training (8 hours); mandatory for all students
You will register in INT D 710 in Bear Tracks. This is a non-credit Ethics course
Professional Development Requirement (8 hours of Professional Development Activities and Individual Development Plan (IDP)); mandatory for all students admitted September 2016 and onwards
The Capping Project (KSR 900) will normally take the form of a project although a comprehensive examination is also an option. The evaluation committee for a student electing the project option shall consist of the supervisor and one other member approved by the Associate Dean. The evaluation committee for a student electing the comprehensive examination option shall consist of the supervisor, plus two members approved by the Associate Dean.
