From the GSA Website:
The Graduate Students' Association (GSA) is established under Alberta's Post-Secondary Learning Act as the representative body for graduate students at the University of Alberta.
The GSA is a student-led, not-for-profit corporation, with a mission to advocate for support for graduate students, negotiate a Collective Agreement for graduate students holding assistantships, foster student engagement, and to support the academic achievements of its members.
All graduate students at the U of A are automatically members of the GSA, with the right to vote in elections (and run for office!), and serve on committees. Check out the links to the left to learn more about the GSA, the Directly-Elected Officers who represent graduate students, and all the ways to get involved.
If you have any questions, email gsa.frontdesk@ualberta.ca, or drop by and visit them in Triffo Hall!
It is also important to be familiar with the Graduate Student Assistantship Collective Agreement.
The GSA offers assistance through the Graduate Students Assistance Program (GSAP) and the Health and Dental Plan, which offers discounts on counselling through ($30 per visit to a maximum of $500). There is also a satellite office in Triffo Hall with a psychologist dedicated to working only with graduate students. Graduate students must first call Counselling and Clinical Services to schedule an intake session before meeting with this psychologist.
You are automatically signed up for the GSA's weekly newsletter upon registration. It includes important information regarding awards, governance, lectures, services, and events.
