Emergency Funding

The University of Alberta offers emergency student loans to assist students experiencing difficulties in meeting essential living expenses, such as rent or groceries. If you are dealing with delays in funding or unexpected expenses, you may be eligible for a short-term, interest-free emergency student loan.

To ensure other students are able to benefit from the program, emergency student loans must be fully repaid within three months of the loan disbursement and may only be issued once per term, per student.

Note: Emergency student loans cannot be used to pay debts to another university department, e.g., tuition, fees, library fines).

Please see the Registrar's Office website for more information on this service.
