Who was your community partner, and can you describe the project objectives?
ECVO
What was the biggest takeaway from your CSL placement?
There are many challenges within organizations but there are also plenty of learning opportunities and collaborations. The main takeaway were the after effects of COVID and how they not only affect service delivery but also work gratification. Some staff members find that since COVID, everything has become automated, this has removed a level of connection between staff and service receivers making it isolating.
How can you apply any newly gained knowledge/skills to your future endeavours (courses/employment/volunteering)?
Prioritize making genuine connections with all parties involved in the process, a connection helps the quality of the service but also the rewarding or satisfactory experience of being involved in its implementation and delivery.
Why should students consider being involved with CSL, and how does it enhance their academic learning?
CSL gives you a chance to showcase and apply classroom theory to real life settings. I find that at times you just want do school and get it over with in order to get a degree. CSL allows you how you could actually utilize the concepts you are learning.
Cynthia recieved a CSL student equity award! With support from the Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL Canada) and the Canadian federal government, CSL awards scholarships to equity-deserving students for their successful participation in an official CSL course.
