Summary: This week we focused on generating the new structure of our bike using Fusion360. Due to the limitations of attaching the previous cardboard mold to the base of the bike, we came up with a new structure that focuses on combing "ring" surroundings that encase the bike an provide a rigid outline for the bike's form. While modeling, we discovered that in order to create the rings each of the body's had to take on a different shape in order for it to align with the bike's framing so we had to troubleshoot through some different shapes in order for the exterior to still provide that rigid shape while offering enough support and stability. As a result we came up with the solution to focus on using more vertical rings for the exterior which we will later encase with individual cardboard strips on the sides to shape out the exterior. This week we also worked on creating the code for the bike's LED system to ensure that the bike's LED lights transition from blue to orange.
Plan for the Next 2 Weeks: We plan to discuss attachment methods for hooking on the CNC'd cardboard cutouts to the base of the bike. As of now we have discussed utilizing chicken wire or zip ties to hook it onto the base. We also plan to begin assembly of the cut out exterior parts.
Monday:
PLTW Step: Construct a Solution
Exterior Model Outline
Neda : Begin sketching out the exterior on Fusion360 to serve as a reference for the exterior
Kaitlyn: Work on documenting the pictures for the website and talk with Mr Rojas regarding G-Code.
Venice: Work on formatting the TinkerCad Model
Tuesday:
PLTW Step: Construct a Solution
"Rings" for the exterior
Neda : Work on generating each of the "rings" for the 3D model
Kaitlyn : Work on updating the website and complete the 5 essentials survey
Venice: Complete the 5 essentials survey
Wednesday:
PLTW Step: Construct a Solution
Full-Modeled Exterior with Panels
LED Code - TinkerCad
Neda: Model out exterior panels that hook onto the base of the bike
Kaitlyn : Look into new materials for CNC and continue updating website
Venice: completed first code for the LED system
--> The main purpose was to get the general change of the colors moving from left to right, changing from blue to orange. This code can be modified and changed to be compatible with the app we plan on making on MIT App Inventor. Next we will physically build the circuit to make sure everything works, and then we'll start on the app.
Thursday:
PLTW Step: Construct a Solution
Color-Coded Exterior
New Material for CNC
Neda: Color Coded the 3D Model for the G-Code
Kaitlyn: Worked on new sketches for revamped model
Venice: Worked on transitioning the colors for the LEDs on the bike frame
(Additional) - Neda & Kaitlyn: Search for cardboard and get new material for the CNC.
We also talked with Mr. Rojas discussing using the CNC and G-Code to carve out our cardboard molds.
Friday:
PLTW Step: Construct a Solution
CNC Machine carving shapes
Neda: Work with Mr. Rojas on CNC for the exterior
Neda, Kaitlyn, & Venice: Observe the CNC operating on the material to carve out shapes.
Venice & Kaitlyn: Begin working on the app for the LED system for the bike
