Summary: We focused this week on taping each of the 4 main components of the bike's mold. For each main component, we used masking tape to coat one side of each component so that when we use the spray foam, it will be easier to remove the dried foam. We also worked on attaching the borders for each of the compnents with the 8 inch walls we created in the previous week. However, when we intially started we tried using a combination of masking tape and duct tape, and found that the duct tape wasn't sticking well enough, which led to us redoing the duct tape for the attachments of the base and the walls. We also realized during the build process that we needed circular walls for the components to ensure that the mold wouldn't leak through the circular cut out in the mold cut outs. Next week we plan on working on using the spray foam to coat the finished molds.
Monday:
PLTW Step: Construct
1st half of the front exterior of the bike
We continued working on the assembly portion of this build by attaching the orders to the base shapes of the mold for each of the 4 main components of the mold. To ensure that the spray foam would be easier to remove after drying, we coated and assembled each of the pieces with masking tape. We also made sure to test the durability of each of the molds to ensure that they would be stable.

Sealed the first half of the front exterior with masking tape borders
Continuation of Tuesday: Constructing the base
Neda + Kaitlyn: Attached borders to flat base
Venice: Taping the borders in order to avoid sticking/wetting the cardboard
Thursday:
PLTW Step: Construct & Test
Sealed the second half of the front exterior with masking tape borders
Continuation of Wednesday: Construct Base
Continue taping.
Friday:
PLTW Step: Developing Solution + Construct & Test
2nd half of the back exterior of the bike
In class we continued taping, and then we brought the two front (smaller) components home to re-test it's dimensions and compatibility with the bike. We found a few problems, noted them, and will start brainstorming ideas tomorrow during class.
