Summary: This week we worked on making the cardboard mold from the previous week. However, while building and comparing the cardboard mold to the bike frame we discovered that there was an issue with attaching the mold to the base. As a result, we has a meeting where we discussed alternative methods to shaping the bike's exterior. After our meeting, we decided on creating an exterior that had a "ring-like" structure where rings would be attacked vertically and horizontally to the base in order to create its futuristic structure. This week was heavily focused on creating the 3D model for the new concept, sketching out the exterior, and starting on TinkerCad to begin working on the LED system for the bike once the mold and shape is done.
Next Week Plans: Next week we plan on generating our 3D Model on Fusion 360 by structuring the vertical disks around the bike's base and continuing Tinkercad as well as researching exterior attachments for the bike to have it sleek exterior. Neda will work on generating the 3D Model for Fusion 360 and Venice will work on the Tinkercad for the LEDs. Kaitlyn will work on researching and experimenting with materials that can be used on top of the CNC'd pieces for the exterior such as garbage bags and chicken wire.
Monday:
PLTW Step: Develop Solution + Construct
Double-Checking Dimensions of Bike Base to Dimensions in the 3D Model in Fusion
Today we are developing solutions to the problems we found and we are considering adding mounting plates that we are 3D modelling and attaching to the flat surface on the fork, and slants on the back. We are also thinking of possible making the body into 6 individual parts instead of 4 for the added mobility in the front. Overall it shouldn't be too labor intensive because we can still re-use and modify the molds we have made thus far.
Bring all materials into the lab for video tomorrow.
Tuesday:
PLTW Step: Construct
Continuation of cardboard mold (Front Segment)
Neda + Kaitlyn: Worked on constructing the front segment of the cardboard.
Venice: Fixed Website and documents from previous week. Set-up this week's page/documents.
Wednesday:
PLTW Step: Develop Solution
TinkerCad Model for LED System
Kaitlyn + Neda: Met with Mr. Rojas to discuss our project and look for other possible budget-friendly options in order to make improvements moving forward.
Venice: Create layout for pieces of LED system for the bike's exterior.
Thursday:
PLTW Step: Develop Solution
Ring Concept Layout (Vertical & Horizontal Rings for the exterior)
Kaitlyn + Neda: Began conceptualizing a new CAD Model and Sketch that incorporated the new ring features to support the base. Also discussed more with Mr. Rojas about the new exterior and stability features.
Venice: Begin working on Tinkercad for LED lights and update website
Friday:
PLTW Step: Develop Solution
New Concept Sketch of Bike with Rings Attached to Base
Neda: Worked on 3D modeling vertical disks from Fusion 360
Kaitlyn: Create concept sketch for rings adhered to the base of the bike
Venice: Work on debugging code on Tinkercad
