My exhibition has a theme that revolves around the main topic of hope in the midst of global issues. My vision towards each of my artwork is to be able to depict that there will always be hope within any situation no matter how dire it may seem. The issues that will be illustrated won't only be major scale issues like deforestation and global warming. I would like to also indicate some personal issues experienced worldwide such as peer pressure and self-criticism. One of the reasons onto choosing this theme for my exhibition is because of topics learned throughout my school years. I am always disheartened with the condition of the world, many people are suffering and living through conditions that are undesirable. This is what lead me to choose the theme of global issues; I am not trying to make a major change towards the condition of the world, but I am hoping that I could at least raise some awareness. I hope that I could display my vision clearly, allowing at least an individual to realize the hope within their undesirable situation.
In trying to ensure that my vision and theme are interpreted correctly I presented my artwork in a certain way. I used varying mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, digital art, as well as clay and paper sculptures. Although I used varying mediums all my artwork have a clear indication of contrasting colors, emphasizing the hope within the dire situation. I also illustrate the main idea of each global issue within the center of the artwork to ensure more emphasis. There is also always at least a body part or figure within each artwork to indicate that these issues are experienced by humans worldwide. In doing so, I hope that each individual global issue can be interpreted correctly and that the hope within each situation can also be seen clearly.
The arrangement of the artworks is laid out as is with no particular sense of order to indicate the chaos of global issues. There are no patterns or organization involved in global issues. With this in mind, the first artwork of my exhibition called “Personal Barriers” is interpreting the global issue of self-criticism. Sometimes we overthink and drive ourselves into undesirable situations that can be mentally taxing. However, if we can overcome these self-criticisms, by climbing up the barriers and obstacles, we would see countless opportunities that lie ahead symbolized through the aurora. The next artwork, “Utopian future” symbolizes a global issue regarding pollution and global warming. I am trying to imply that people still have hope and believe that they could achieve a utopian future even in a post-apocalyptic world. “Guilty fashion” is the next artwork, interpreting a global issue regarding fast-fashion industry. An industry that caused multiple issues like deforestation, wastes, and pollution. Through this particular artwork, I would like to indicate that although humans are to blame for these issues, we are also the key to fixing the problem. The next piece “Hunger” is one of the simplest topics regarding starvation. The hope within this artwork is indicated through the light that is shining on the bowl of noodles, showing that there are people willing to give food. The next 2 artworks called “Environmental Chaos” and “Longing for Sobriety” have a similar approach. Both pieces are split into 2 sections where one is showing a hopeful, colorful, and peaceful environment, whereas the other section shows a dull and chaotic environment. Although illustrated in a similar fashion, the global issue its interpreting are completely different. One is environmental degradation, and the other is alcohol addiction. “Judgement” is the next artwork that is also quite inspired from my personal experience. Peer pressure and being looked down is emotionally scarring, but sometimes it is better to ignore the comments by those around us and just believe in our own abilities. We shouldn’t be trapped within that mindset. The last artwork “Home” is also indicating a simple topic regarding shelter. No matter how distressing the situation may be, stay motivated and strive for the best. It is always good to set a goal no matter how impossible it may seem; it gives hope and motivation.

"Personal Barriers"
40 cm x 60 cm
Acrylic on Canvas
Humans live with constant doubt about their own personal abilities. We often criticize ourselves more than we think, allowing the development of anxiety, depression, and mental issues. This is an issue that is faced by many people around the world, sometimes struggling to find any purpose in life due to their own self-criticism. However, if we are able to go beyond the countless amounts of obstacles and barriers we set for ourselves, countless opportunities are ahead of us.

"Utopian Future"
40 cm x 60 cm
Charcoal and Color Pencils on Paper
As technology and industries progress, there will be a rise in the amount of pollution emitted into the atmosphere. The impacts of pollution on the environment are clear: the world’s climate is rising at a rapid rate. Although the issue seems to be in a dire state, a lot of people are still holding on to hope that there will be a time where the sky will be bright and clear. A time where the world is no longer filled with pollution and smoke that is caused by our own actions.

"Guilty Fashion"
40 cm x 60 cm
Digital Art
Not many people know the heavy global impact fast fashion industries have made on the environment. It has produced heavy amounts of wastes, caused deforestations, and is one of the major reasons for water and air pollution. Even though we, humans, are the reason for these adversities, we are also the only ones that can be the key to fixing these issues. We need to change our actions in order to help mitigate or even eradicate this global issue.
Artwork 4
"Hunger"
40 cm x 60 cm
Digital Art
Living in constant hunger is one of the most painful and agonizing experiences. Yet almost 12% of the entire population of the world is currently living in poverty. Millions of people are struggling to have a constant source of nutrition. Those who are willing to give any sort of nourishment could be their savior and their last hope. Although it won’t eradicate poverty or help reduce the number of people living in constant hunger, it would have given them a chance to keep on fighting.
Artwork 5
"Environmental Chaos"
40 cm x 60 cm
Acrylic on Paper
Environmental degradation is a widely known global issue that has existed for years. Deforestation is one of the biggest causes of this global issue. With our current lifestyle, it is no surprise that deforestation is causing such an issue, starting from agricultural expansion, land expansion, and even our daily materials are made from the cut-down trees. However, it is great knowing that everyone is trying their best on reducing wastes to reduce environmental concerns.

"Longing for Sobriety"
40 cm x 60 cm
Digital Art
Addiction to alcoholism never ends well. When trapped in a cycle of drinking, it may feel as if all your anxiety and problems are fading away; it may seem as if you are in paradise. In reality, to no surprise the more you consume alcohol, the bigger the risk of falling ill and the bigger the chances of death. However, it is not to say that those that are addicted have no hope; it may be difficult, but sobriety is definitely achievable. The joy when first becoming sober will be unimaginable.
Artwork 7
"Judgement"
40 cm x 60 cm
Watercolor and Acrylic on Paper
Being judged and looked down upon could lead to a dangerous outcome. When we are treated unfairly, emotional scars and burdens could potentially occur. These scars are not as easy to heal as physical ones, they could accumulate and lead to heavy emotional trauma. Sometimes, all we can do is not listen to the peers and live our lives the way we want to. We shouldn’t confine ourselves with the belief that those around us are responsible for how we should live our lives.

"Home"
70 cm x 40 cm x 30 cm
Paper, Clay, and Cloth
Shelter is considered as one of the basic human necessities. However, there are millions of people that cannot afford to have an adequate home. There are so many people that roam around the streets trying to make a living with the little amount that they have. But no matter the circumstances, they need to realize that they should not give up, to never lose hope. Strive to achieve something that may look impossible but have the determination and motivation to try and reach for it.
