Put these dates in your diary now!
Band Camp is probably the most beneficial 2½ days in your child’s band experience each year.
Band Camp starts on Friday after lunch at school, finishing at 5pm after which the children are taken home.
The camp continues over the weekend at CRU Galston. On Saturday morning, students and parent volunteers arrive at CRU and over the next two days attend a well organised balance of band rehearsals, group tutorials and recreation activities before the grand finale of the Band Camp - a very special concert for the parents early Sunday afternoon.
It is at Band Camp that Junior Band plays together for the first time, and the Sunday afternoon concert is one of their proudest moments.
All members of the Band Program are expected to attend Band Camp.
Please note the dates for next year and inform sporting teams or other weekend commitments of the event and your child's absence.
A parent roster provides supervision, and each family is expected to assist, taking on at least one shift.
If a family has multiple children in the Band Program, or in multiple bands (eg Performance and Jazz Bands), they are expected to take on a shift for each child or band.
Prior to Band Camp, a digital form will be distributed with a section for shift preferences.
All parents must have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC). This is a simple process via Services NSW: WWCC Application. We recommend obtaining your WWCC in advance so you are ready for all volunteering opportunities (including canteen and other school-related roles).
Parents volunteering on Day One of Band Camp, held on school grounds, will also have to present at the School Office prior to the day for an ID check. This check only needs to be done once and lasts for the entire time your children are at TPS. If you have already volunteered at the school, you have probably already completed this process.
Band Camp couldn't be run without the help of parents and families. Thank you for all your support!
