Turramurra Public School has had a strong band program for more than 40 years with over 120 students participating each year.
Our band director is Mr Tim Rowland, a talented band leader, multi-instrumentalist and composer.
The Band is open to all students from Year 3. Students are also more than welcome to join in Years 4-6.
The band program is an extra-curricular activity funded by fees (band contributions), paid yearly.
There are four bands for 2025:
Junior Band (Year 3 students or beginners from other years)
Intermediate Band (Year 4 students)
Performance Band (Years 5 and 6 students)
Jazz Band (Years 5 and 6 students)
Junior, Intermediate and Performance Bands are Concert Bands. These include flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, tubas, french horns, bass guitars and mixed percussion. They play music styles ranging from popular (eg Taylor Swift songs) to soundtracks (eg The Mandalorian, Encanto) to classical. These bands have two rehearsals per week.
Jazz Band has a different set up to the other bands. It includes saxophones, trombones, trumpets, bass guitar, drum kit and keyboard. They play music from latin, funk, jazz and swing genres. Jazz Band rehearses once a week.
