In this project we are going to compose, record and edit our own song, musical or lipdub. Use the tune from another song.
Warming up: Let’s start!
Play a music quiz here. Let’s find out how much you know about music styles and take notes of the different music styles that you have learnt in the quiz.
Remember, you must come up with a song by the end of the unit. It should be 100% original and you will be composing music, lyrics and, if you want to, choreography.
Your teacher will give you the base of different styles; you will have to use your computer to complete it.
Write the lyrics in groups: four stanzas and a chorus on any past personal story you like.
You can also record a short video with choreography.
What are the steps to compose a song/rap?
Task 2: Let’s listen to music!
In this task, you are going to listen to British music to be inspired…
Feel free to find your favourite song from the 2010s in English!
Complete the chart in classroom.
Task 3: Let's learn about live musicals!
In the following task, you are going to read about musicals.
Brainstorming:
Ask yourselves: Have you ever seen a live musical? How many of them can you name? Do you know what they are about?
Group work: Find in classroom
In this task, you are going to compose the tune. You can use the app Soundtrap.
4.1. Watch the following video and write FIVE things a good melody needs to have.
4.2. Let’s explore the web page www.soundtrap.com to compose your melody. You can also download the APP on Google Play & on App Store.
In the following task you are required to watch some videos with pieces of advice to write the lyrics. Next, you will revise some useful pronunciation rules so that the lyrics rhyme. And finally, you will have to compose it (you can use memories, your past stories, etc.)
Task 6: Performance
Once the song is recorded, we will proceed to make the video recording.
