2023-2024

Welcome to Miss Brose's Kindergarten Class website!

We are so excited to welcome our students back for Trinity's 70th school year!

On this website you will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, upcoming important dates and reminders, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of what we learned May 6th - May 10th

Bible Study - We learned the story of Gideon from Judges chapters 6 and 7 and the story of Ruth from Judges chapters 13-16.

Bible Words for the week: Gideon - "The Lord is my helper, I will not fear." Hebrews 13:6

Ruth - "[God] has wondrously shown His steadfast love to me." Psalm 31:21

Central Truth: Gideon - God gave the Israelites victory over their earthly enemies. Through Jesus, God gives all believers victory over sin and death.

Ruth - God continues to work good in all things for those, who, by faith, belong to Him.

Grade-Level Truth: Gideon - God gives us the victory over our enemies through Jesus, His Son.

Ruth - God shows His love for us by giving us people to care for us.

ELA - We continue working on new spelling patterns that we can recognize to help us read words. We reviewed open and closed door words where when the only vowel in a word is at the end of the word it will say its name, like in so and no. We also learned about when letter I is on its own it is always uppercase and it says its name. Lastly we worked on reading to comprehend, not just reading to read. After our chapters of our newest reader, the students had to answer questions about what they read.

We reviewed the tricky words a, the, of, from, one, all, what, where, and was.

We also reviewed double letter words like 'll' in well, or 'ss' in grass.

We continued our Zach and Ann reader which has more sentences per page and practices all the reading skills we have learned so far. We also have comprehension questions to answer after reading to make sure we are reading to understand not just reading to read.

We also learned and practiced how ck says the /k/ sound and is usually found at the end of a word.

Math -We began working on subtraction and learning about take away. Students have listened to math stories and illustrated them to show taking some away. They have also made number bonds to show the total they started with, the part that was taken away, and the part that was left. They also wrote number sentences with a minus and equals sign.
