Kindergarten News

2023- 2024

Welcome to Miss Brose's Kindergarten Class website!

We are so excited to welcome our students back for Trinity's 70th school year!

On this website you will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, upcoming important dates and reminders, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of what we learned last week:

Sept. 4th - Sept. 8th

We had no school on Monday, Sept. 4th for Labor Day and we had minimum days on Thursday and Friday for Parent Teacher Conferences.

Bible Study - We learned to story of "The Birth of Isaac" from Genesis 21:1-7

Central Truth - God gives His people faith to follow Him and to receive His blessings in our lives.

Grade Level Truth - God keeps His promises, especially His promise to send Jesus to be our Savior.

ELA - We continued practicing our positional words like left, right, above, below, on top of, underneath, in front of and behind. We also continued working on the "grown-up" names for the lines that we use when writing letters and drawing shapes. We reviewed vertical lines (going from top to bottom), horizontal lines (going from left to write), curved lines (start at the top and curve to the left), diagonal lines (start at the top then slide to the left or start at the top and slide to the right), cup lines (start at the top, vertical line down, curve at the bottom, vertical line up), hump lines (start at the bottom, vertical line up, curve at the top, vertical line down), zigzag lines (diagonal lines connected, making sure where they are connected is pointy), wavy lines (cup lines and hump lines connected, making sure where they are connected is curved), and spiral lines ( start in the center and go around and around). The new lines for this week were plus lines (start with a vertical line then add a horizontal line across the middle), "x" lines (connect 2 diagonal lines together where they cross in the middle), loop line (start at the bottom, curve up to the right, curve over the top, and then come back down and across), and hook lines (start at the top, vertical line down, curve to the left) . We also worked on our "pinch and tuck" pencil hold.

Math - We worked on decomposing groups of items into their parts and giving each part a numerical value. We talked about how if we start with the same number of objects, even if the parts are different, the beginning number does not change.

We also continued working on counting and representing the amount with a number. We learned rhymes to help us remember how to write our numbers:

Science - Because of the early dismissal days and the short week we were not able to get to science this week. Instead we made sure that we had our most recent work ready to share at parent teacher conferences.
