2023- 2024
Welcome to Miss Brose's Kindergarten Class website!
We are so excited to welcome our students back for Trinity's 70th school year!
On this website you will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, upcoming important dates and reminders, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.
Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!
If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.
From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.
Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.
Recap of what we learned last week:
Sept. 18th - Sept. 22nd
Bible Study - We learned to story of "Jacob's Journey and Dream" from Genesis 28:1-5, 10-22
Central Truth - God's will is always for the good of His people.
Grade Level Truth - Even though Jacob sinned, God had a plan for things to work out for the best.
ELA - We have wrapped up positional words and "grown up" names for lines. We will continue to use these skills but we have shifted our focus to letter names, letter sounds, and handwriting skills. Last week we practiced m and a. This week we practiced t, d, o, and c. We have listened for the letter sounds in words, talked about how our mouth looks and feels while we say the letter sounds, and have written the letters on handwriting paper to help us control the size and shape of the letters. This helps them to be more uniform. We also continued working on our "pinch and tuck" pencil hold.
Math - We worked on counting groups of objects. We then took the same group of objects, moved them around, and recounted to help us understand that just because the objects are in a different position the amount is the same. We worked on writing numbers 6 and 7 as well.
We also continued working on counting and representing the amount with a number. We learned rhymes to help us remember how to write our numbers:
number 0 "start at the top, around I go, close it up. I wrote a zero"
number 1 "top to bottom, then I am done, I have written number 1"
number 2 "half a moon, there's more to do. I have written number 2"
number 3 "curve to the right, around the tree, around again. I wrote number 3"
number 4 " a little line down, to the right I go. Now big line down. I wrote a 4"
number 5 "down the side, around the hive, a hat on top, I wrote a 5"
number 6 "down the side, and then a curl. The 6 makes a little swirl"
number 7 "across the sky, then drop a line. I make a 7 every time"
Science - We had wrapped up our unit on the 5 senses and will start a new one after the fall break.
Interactive Notebook: Students have begun creating their interactive notebooks. These are notebooks where they create teh pages by cutting and gluing various practice pages. Sometimes the pages are glued so that there is a "secret hiding spot" behind it, so that they can add extra work in the hiding spot.
We have also begun working in our Interactive notebooks. These notebooks allow us to practice skills in a fun way that reviews what we have learned in class and gives us a fun way to share what we have learned.
