Kindergarten News

2023- 2024

Welcome to Miss Brose's Kindergarten Class website!

We are so excited to welcome our students back for Trinity's 70th school year!

On this website you will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, upcoming important dates and reminders, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of what we learned last week:

Aug. 7th - Aug. 11th

Bible Study - We learned the story of God Creates and Gives Life from Genesis chapters 1 and 2.

Central Truth - Our triune God abundantly blesses us with our world and with all that we have, including our bodies, souls, families, friends, and forgiveness and salvation in Jesus.

Grade Level Truth - God made people to live in His wonderful world. God makes each of us a very special and unique person.

ELA - We begin our year making sure we have a solid understanding of our positional words like left, right, above, below, on top of, underneath, in front of and behind. We also begin working on the "grown-up" names for the lines that we use when writing letters and drawing shapes. We practiced vertical lines (going from top to bottom) and horizontal lines (going from left to write). We also worked on our "pinch and tuck" pencil hold.

Math - We began our unit with talking about different ways that we can sort a group of items. For example we could sort by color, size, shape, type of item. After practicing sorting collections we learned that in Kindergarten we have to be able to show our work so that meant we had to draw our sorted collections on our math pages, We talked about how math pictures do not need lots of details but we do want to make sure we use the correct colors for the things we are drawing. We also worked on comparing the groups that we created to see which group had the most or the fewest.

Science - We began our study of the five sesnses. We shared what we already know about them and then began studying each one individually. We talked about our sense of sight and the parts of the eye that help with our sense of sight or help protect our eyes (pupil, iris, tear duct, eyebrow, eyelashes, and eyelid). We also talked about our sense of hearing and how sound travels in invisible sound waves to our eardrum that vibrates and our brain tells us what the vibrations mean.
