Gift cards are created on the Tablet's Cashier Side under the gift card section to the bottom left.
First be sure to charge your customer properly in your point of sale system before creating the gift card.
Selecting create gift card starts the process
You can choose to scan a tag, or enter the tag number found on the gift card. If you're using the TapMango desktop app you'll want to enter the number.
Every merchant with TapMango is assigned a unique set of keytag numbers. If you're trying to enter a number you were not assigned, you will see an error that you are not the owner of the keytags.
If you want to add wallet dollars then tap the field and enter an amount
If you'd like to add a voucher then select this button, then select your vouchers. On the tablet vouchers must be manually assignable. See the vouchers guide for more information
If you'd like a custom description, you can edit this box. This is only shown on the TapMango Portal Gift card section
Check or uncheck the box if the user is required to enroll. If this is unchecked an anonymous account is created.
It's up to the customer to edit their profile to secure the card in case they lose it, or you have no reliable way to find the right account.
When all finished select save in the top right to complete the process.
(note this was done using TapMango's emulator)
To get started you want to navigate to http://portal.tapmango.com > Gift Cards
To create a new gift card navigate to Create New
To edit an unclaimed gift card click edit on the right, or the gift cards number
To delete an unclaimed gift card click delete on the right
There's a few things to fill out, and some options to decide on.
This is the 9 digit number, located on the back of your TapMango keytags.
When you receive your keytags they'll come in sheets of 10, in sequential order. If you want to create multiple gift cards at once, this number will be the first number in the range of gift cards you create.
Example: If you have a sheet with numbers 110066000 ~ 110066009, and you'd like to make the whole sheet the same gift card start with number 110066000
Note: Each merchant is assigned their own keytags, if you try entering a random number you'll receive an error stating the keytag does not belong to you.
This is the total number of gift cards you'd like to create at once. The numbers used will be starting from the number entered in Starting Number
The description of the gift card. If you're creating multiple gift cards this will be the same across all of them. If you leave this blank the description will automatically be set to Gift Card #XXX where XXX is the gift card number.
Select yes or no if you'd like points added to the card. When selecting yes you'll have the option to enter an amount of points.
Select yes or no if you'd like to add wallet dollars to the card. When selecting yes you'll have the option to enter a dollar amount.
If yes, the person scanning the card for the first time will be treated like a new sign up. If no the person who scans the card for the first time will be automatically give an account with the name Gift Card ****and no email/phone number.
It's up to the customer to edit their profile to secure the card in case they lose it, or you have no reliable way to find the right account.
After you've created gift cards there are two statuses you can break gift cards down into. Claimed, or Unclaimed
Unclaimed Gift Cards can still be edited, or deleted
Claimed Gift cards cannot be edited, or deleted. Claimed gift cards also have a customer profile associated to them. You can click the customer name under the claimed by
column to go directly to that person.
Gift Cards is a TapMango feature that allows you to pre-load a TapMango Keytag with wallet dollars, points, or a voucher before they even sign up!
This is an excellent way for you to sell your keytags as gift cards to customers.
Gift cards can be created on either the TapMango Tablet or Web Portal. See the following for instructions:
Gift cards can be setup on the TapMango tablet or Portal. The tablet is great for creating custom gift cards on the spot, and the portal is better for creating gift cards in batches, or preset amounts to sell quickly.
Once you've provided a gift card to a customer, now you just need to wait for them to give that to someone, and that person to come back.
When creating the gift card you have the the option of selecting if the customer using it is required to register or not. If yes, then it's like a normal sign up and the new person fills out the information to register. If no, then an account is automatically created with the name Gift Card.
Once this is done the customer now has a rewards account and is able to use the offers, and even earn points.
Depend on your business type it may be better to not require customers using gift cards to register. However, keep in mind that this is now an anonymous account and the customer must not lose their keytag.
If the customer loses their keytag then you do not have a reliable way of finding that account again.
We strongly encourage that you tell customers who sign up with a gift card that they should edit their profile on the TapMango tablet to add either a name, email, or phone number so there is something unique on the account in case they lose the card. Otherwise their remaining balance is gone.
Yes! There's a different process though. For more information see:
Gift cards can also be redeemed for existing customers. This must be done on the tablet. If you have a customer come in who already has a rewards account then use the following process for redeeming a gift card
Either tell the customer to scan their existing tag on the tablet, or enter their phone number. You can also use the find option on the TapMango tablet to search for them.
Once the customer is selected, bring the table to the cashier side and select Gift Cards.
Just select the Redeem Gift Cards option, enter/scan the tag, and confirm.
If you're on the desktop application you'll be asked to enter a tag number.
If you're on your tablet you'll be able to scan the keytag number
After redeeming the value of the card is added to your existing customer's account. The keytag is now a claimed gift card and cannot be used anymore and should be disposed of.
If the customer had scanned the gift card already and registered an account, or was given an anonymous account you'll need to merge the customer records. For information see the guide below. In this case search for the customer by keytag number on the gift card when merging.
You have the ability to merge together two customer accounts. This will take one account, and allow you to take the information from another account to add onto it.
Reasons you may want to merge accounts together, of course being the owner of your rewards program - this is at your discretion.
A customer signed up twice without realizing
A customer signed up on the Application, but did not use the same contact information as in-store
Two customers wish to start earning points collectively (friends, family, partners, etc)
One customer wishes to give away their account.
A customer accidentally registered a gift card as a new customer instead of redeeming it
Merging, of course, involves two accounts:
Destination: The destination account is the customer you want to retain, and will start with.
Source: The source account is the customer you want to remove, and will select second.
When merging two customers the destination customer will take the points, lifetime point, wallet balance, and active vouchers.
If the destination customer has no email, or phone number that information will be taken as well.
The customer history of the source customer is lost, and the record will be deleted from your account.
