Quarter 3

8th Grade Math

This quarter, we covered many topics. First, we began studying multi-step equations with variables on both sides. Then, we moved on to functions with a focus on linear functions. We learned how to identify a function, compare linear functions, describe linear functions, and apply linear functions to real-world contexts. We then learned about the volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. Students are currently learning about exponents. Students have learned how to multiply, divide, negative exponents and raise a power to a power. Below is an image carousel that illustrates these topics and highlights student work.

NC Math 1

NC Math 1 students spent the afternoon of Friday, March 5th outside at TES, complementing the projectile motion portion of our quadratics unit with some in-person, outdoor activities. We spent a good bit of our time on the TES basketball court, studying what variables affect a projectile and how we might be able to predict whether a shot will go in the hoop or not!
