What an exciting week! The Texas Rangers finally earned their title of World Champions this week while many of our scholars will be earning A and A/B Honor Roll as we finish the second six weeks and final grades are submitted.
There are a lot of exciting things happening at YMLA between now and Thanksgiving break so we hope to see every scholar every day. The Honor Roll Ceremony for the second six weeks, several field trips, and our first Celebration Day are just a few of the exciting things coming up. Be sure to check your email for important information and invites.
On Thursday, November 9th we will be hosting our second Family Engagement from 6:00-7:30 here at YMLA. We are extremely lucky to have GM Financial coming to share information and resources about saving for college. In addition, you can pick up report cards, get your scholar's Interim Assessment results, sign up for a library card, and visit with other local organizations. Scholars can earn Merit points by bringing canned food and new or gently used coats to donate. Bring these items to the MS Counseling Office to receive a 5 point Merit for EACH item. All of those merits will then go into a drawing for one of the new Student Council YMLA t-shirts. We hope to see everyone on the 9th and bring those donations if you are able!

Bring a camera or a camera phone. We will take pictures, learn techniques in post processing, and create a school-wide webpage of our art. Email for more information!

Self-choice reading is the empowerment of the scholar to find out more about who they are and who they want to be. Choose a book. Read it. Share it. We will have discussions, create book trailers, and share our love of literature with each other.
