WILDCAT WEEKLY
VOLUME 3 ISSUE 15
November 10, 2023
From the Office
And just like that we are another week closer to a much deserved Thanksgiving Break. Scholars engaged in various field trip opportunities this week and most scholars took one or two Interim Assessments. If you were unable to attend the Family Engagement Night we will be sending home copies of scholar's results from the Interim Assessments. There is a video in this newsletter that explains Interim Assessments and how they relate to STAAR.
Next week the whole YMLA family will be engaging in lots of fun activities to show how thankful we are for the Dream Team and scholars. There are lots of opportunities to get involved by donating your time as a volunteer or donate items to support an event. There are descriptions below and a link to the Sign-Up Genius. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up and everyone who intends to support!
As the weather cools and the leaves embrace their autumn hues, we are reminded of the warmth that community and gratitude bring into our lives. This month, PTSA is proud to partner with YMLA on several events that celebrate togetherness and giving back. We warmly invite you to be a part of these occasions—
Volunteer at the Staff Appreciation Luncheon - November 15th
We aim to show our staff how much they are valued with a Staff Appreciation Luncheon. Volunteers are the cornerstone of this event. We need help with donations, setting up, serving and cleaning up.
Volunteer during the Thanksgiving Meal - November 15th
Later that evening, Mr. Carter will host a Thanksgiving Meal for the After school program. We're seeking volunteers to help with food preparation, serving, and creating a welcoming environment. Your hands-on participation will turn this meal into a tapestry of thankfulness and community.
Volunteer anytime during the All-Day Celebration - November 17th
Be a part of YMLA's All-Day Celebration on November 17th by volunteering for a day filled with excitement. We need your enthusiasm to help with activities, serve staff during their luncheon and ensure the day runs smoothly. Your involvement will help make this a memorable day for every member of our YMLA family.
Volunteering for these events is a powerful way to give back and say 'thank you' to our YMLA community. We invite you to join us.
**All volunteers must be FWISD approved** Click this link to start the process.

On Thursday, October 12th scholars in grades 8 through 11 took the Digital PSAT. Recently scores were released by College Board and scholars are able to access their scores using their College Board account. We will be distributing scores at the next Family Engagement Night and providing support for interpreting PSAT scores. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Miles at carol.miles@fwisd.org or Ms. White at katherine.white@fwisd.org.
Bring a camera or a camera phone. We will take pictures, learn techniques in post processing, and create a school-wide webpage of our art. Email for more information!

Self-choice reading is the empowerment of the scholar to find out more about who they are and who they want to be. Choose a book. Read it. Share it. We will have discussions, create book trailers, and share our love of literature with each other.
