WILDCAT WEEKLY
VOLUME 3 ISSUE 25
February 23, 2024
From the Office
Although the weather has been feeling like spring, we are still two weeks away from spring break and there is a lot happening around campus before then! Most of our scholars will be taking one of more assessments for TELPAS, STAAR Interims, NAEP, and/or SAT. There is more information in this week's Wildcat Weekly about each of those assessments. Additionally, our Family Engagement Night on Thursday, February 29th will include lots of information and resources about assesssments and the impact they have on your scholar. Be sure to mark your calendar to join us on the 29th from 6:00-7:30. We'll see you then!
Congratulations to the fabulous Mrs. Melissa Schulman on being voted the YMLA 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year! Our scholars are lucky to have you and we are extremely proud to have you represent YMLA!

Emerging Bilingual (EB) scholars are taking the Reading/Writing and Listening/Speaking TELPAS tests over the next few weeks. Most TELPAS testing will be finished before spring break.
STAAR Interims
Next week we are administering STAAR Interims for Math, Science, and Social Studies. Interims are shorter, STAAR formatted assessments that help teachers better support scholars.
NAEP
Fifty of our 8th graders will be participating in one of the NAEP. Reading or Math, assessments on Tuesday, March 5th. Learn more about NAEP here, https://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard/parents/
SAT
All scholars in 11th grade will be taking the SAT on Tuesday, March 5th. Learn more about SAT here, https://blog.collegeboard.org/parents-guide-sat
Absence Notes
As with all of us, sometimes our young men lose things between home and school. When your scholar is absent, you can upload his absence note directly into Parent Portal, assuring it gets to the school and creates an electronic documentation of when it was uploaded. You are not required to upload your notes here, but it is an option.
