Canadian & World Studies
Welcome to Canadian & World Studies
Martingrove’s Canadian and World Studies Department offers a wide variety of courses, ranging from Ancient Civilizations and Canadian History to Psychology and Philosophy, for all pathways including Advanced Placement, University and College.
The History department hosts simulations such as Mock Elections, Mock Trials, and rousing debates within our annual Model United Nations conference. The Martingrove History department is more than just a department, it is a way to understand our place in the future, historically speaking.
As a student in our classroom you will:
foster an appreciation of how past and present individuals and events have shaped our global and Canadian societies
be provided with opportunities to analyse local, national, and global issues, and relate these issues to your daily lives
learn problem solving and critical thinking skills
develop research and literacy skills using a variety of methods including the latest technologies
understand that your place on this planet, past, present and future is intrinsically linked to the environment through a variety of human systems
develop the moral capacity to evaluate human actions in order to promote responsible stewardship of the planet and its inhabitants.
