WHO is running it? - The CALC Magazine is a library project where we invite YOUR teachers to showcase the amazing work of their students. We are responsible for publishing unique stories from our student population, sharing recent books through photography and fashion and displaying some highlights taking place throughout the month. The magazine will be supervised my Ms. Rajpar and well as other staff members at CALC and is open to all students in EdVance and Adult School.
WHAT is it really about? - The CALC Magazine is about the students and most importantly who they are and what they are passionate about. Yes, a big part of it has to do with showcasing books (we are a library after all!), but we also want to showcase the diversity of our students through their faiths, fashion sense and cultures. We want to hear your stories and share them with the school with the hope of starting important conversations and recognizing individual voices and experiences. This includes sharing important reflections that occur throughout your courses, focusong on your VOICE, your STORY, and your LIFE.
WHERE does it happen? - The CALC Magazine production will take place in the Library, where we will meet and eventually have copies of the magazine available to access in hardcopy. Your teacher will be collaborating with the Magazine on an on-going basis, expect to have the teacher librarians visit your classes and for you to visit the library. ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF who contribute to the magazine, will recieve their OWN COPY!
WHEN will it happen? - The CALC Magazine will publish each QUAD with our first issue coming out in February 2025.
WHY is it happening? - The CALC Magazine is student focused but also a form of student memories and celebration of achievements. It is a reminder that each of you have the opportunity to display your work which can positively inspire and affect others through emotion, words and images. You may use this magazine in your portfolio when you are applying for jobs or post-secondary school as well.
HOW will it happen? - Your teacher will collaborate and reach out to the Teacher Librarians to explore options on how they can showcase your projects. If students are interested in being on the magazine, they should share that with their teachers as well.
