Learning Life in Corn Du
Laugh, Learn, Live
Shine like a star!
How can we discover our talents and work together to become stars?
This term, Corn Du will be taking part in an exciting topic called "Shine like a star!" Through the themes of a rock band and the circus, the children will explore their talents, interests and strengths while developing confidence, communication and teamwork skills.
Our new topic got off to a very exciting start when we heard the sound of rock music coming from the hall! We went to investigate and discovered a man called Andrew playing an electric guitar. He told us that he was lost and was supposed to be on his way to Abbey Road to play a gig!
Andrew played some fantastic rock music for us and shared his musical journey. He told us that he first started playing the ukulele and then practised and experimented with different musical instruments to discover what he enjoyed.
Andrew also got us thinking about our own talents and interests. He asked us what we are good at and what we would like to do in our end-of-term performance. The children shared lots of brilliant ideas, including singing, dancing, playing instruments and performing music.
It was a fantastic way to begin our “A Star Is Born” topic and has got us excited about discovering our talents, exploring music and working towards our very own end-of-term performance!
Throughout the term, we will be learning about different performers, creating music, practising circus skills, designing costumes and props, and finding out what it takes to work together as part of a successful team. The children will also explore feelings, friendships and classroom expectations as they discover how everyone has something special to contribute.
Our learning will include opportunities to sing, perform, create artwork, investigate sound, develop physical skills and learn about famous performers from Wales. The topic will encourage creativity, resilience and self-belief while providing lots of hands-on, practical experiences.
At the end of the term, we will celebrate our learning with a special "Shine like a star!" performance, where the children will have the opportunity to showcase their talents and achievements to parents and carers.
We are looking forward to helping every child shine and showing that everyone can be a star!
A guitar will be playing in the hall. Children are surprised and go into the hall. Challenge is given.
