Finding a Reading List on the LSD
If the link above doesn't work you can search reading lists using the steps below:
Open an advanced search on the Library catalogue
Library homepage > Select Advanced Search (underneath search bar)
Select Reading Lists from the 'Search for' options
Using the 'Search filters' drop down list select the course code / name / department / Instructor
Enter Search term and hit 'search'
This will bring up all items on reading lists relating to the search.
NB: Use course code to bring up results for only that reading list
Choose an item from the results, make sure it has the 'course' icon.
On the next screen scroll down to the item 'Details' section. At the bottom is the Course Information - this has a link to the reading list(s) this item is on.
Click the link for the correct Reading List
Click on the course title to open the Reading List
Each item on the reading list will now be visible. You will be able to click on any item to find it in the Library catalogue
Students unable to access Reading Lists
Students who cannot access readinglists may not have completed, or only recently completed, registration. Alma auto-updates overnight so we advise users to wait 24 hours before trying to access reading lists.
If you get an enquiry about not being able to access reading lists and the error is 'User Unknown' this is likely to be a registration issue.
Use the ;register shortcut on Olark to send information and a link to register properly online.
If the user has registered and waited please pass on enquiries to the reading list team: readinglists.lib@sussex.ac.uk for further support.
If the user is an ODL student and they think they have already registered and waited then please pass them on to the ODL team: studyonlinelibrarian@sussex.ac.uk for further support.
All BSMS reading list queries should be sent directly to the BSMS librarians: bsmslibrary@bsms.ac.uk

Doctoral researchers (also called PhDs, DPhils and PGRs) are postgraduates who are on a research programme. They work independently on their research projects, and we treat them more like academic staff than students.
PGRs will also often be employed as tutors by the university.
Teaching Team - User Experience
Masters (PGT) students are postgraduate students who are registered on a taught course. So, they have lessons and assignments. We treat these students in a similar way to Undergraduates.
The Repository - is a database that holds Sussex research outputs.
Elements - holds information about Sussex researchers through their public facing profiles. (This can easily found using google)
NB: Embargos may be placed on files in these databases and therefore isn’t currently available

The Hive
- Only PGR - Research Postgraduates (PhD, DPhil), visiting researchers and Staff can use the Hive.
- Those in a 1+ 3 programme can use the Hive in the research (+3) component
