Thespian Troupe 203

Thespian Points

At Chaparral High School, the troupe is extremely active. In the past 19 years, the school has been a Gold Honor troupe for 18 of those years, and the one year not earning the distinction was due to not turning in the notebook in a timely manner.

Thespian points are gained by taking part in school productions, troupe social events and troupe community service events. In order to become a thespian at Chaparral, 15 points must be accumulated. Each point is the equivalent of ten documented and verified hours participating in the various activities.

Inductions generally happen at the end of each school year at the troupe's end of the year banquet. This is an honor society and looks really good on resumes for college applications.

There are three other levels of distinction: Honor thespian, National Honor Thespian, and International Thespian. The following point totals must be achieved at Chaparral to earn each level of distinction:

  • Honor Thespian = 60 points

  • National Honor Thespian= 120 points

  • International Honor Thespian= 180 points

In order to achieve the highest level, the student is typically an officer, works on technical crews as well as acting, and participates in every field trip, community service event, production, and social activity offered by the club.

Thespian Activity Entry
